Construction Estimator&Contract Analyst

DescriptionHerman& Kittle Properties Construction Estimator& Contract Analyst
Location: Indianapolis, IN-North Side

Collaborates with Development, Construction/Purchasing, and other members of Design team to ensure accurate construction cost estimates, engages 3rd party vendors for Design-related activities, and works to continuously improve Design function within HKP.


Reviews preliminary site, engineering, and design plans for data to use in creating construction cost estimate
Create, revise, and monitor construction cost estimates for proposed residential (multi-family) developments.
Assist with database updates, at least annually, and systems for tracking actual costs incurred, estimating costs for new projects, and monitoring accuracy.
Assist with implementation of RS Means Cost Data, or other industry-standard, as a component of construction estimation.
Lead budget review meetings for specific projects, when applicable.
Collaborate with purchasing to obtain real-time cost estimates from new vendors and/or new markets as part of budgeting process.

Contract Negotiation
Assist with RFPs, contract negotiation, monitor performance, and approve payment with 3rd party vendors for design, mechanical, structural, and civil engagements.

Assist with frame walks on new product types as needed and attend when applicable/available.

Other duties as assigned.
General knowledge of construction process and materials for both horizontal and vertical construction. Multi-family experience preferred. Procurement experience preferred.
Basic understanding of construction contractor scopes of work and specifications.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Strong communication skills with Construction Project Managers.
Bachelors Degree-Construction Management, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or relative field preferred.
General knowledge of construction practices and installation procedures.
Ability to work in Sage 300 (Timberline Estimating), Microsoft Excel, Word, and specific construction related computer software programs (e.g. ProCore). Ability to work with Sage 300 (Timberline Estimating) preferred.
