DESCRIPTIONSUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB: The Information Assurance Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance and programmatic support to Picatinny Arsenal in an effort to ascertain information system security. Employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Work hours as subject to change. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS: * Provides information assurance subject matter expert support throughout the system development lifecycle. * Performs appropriate incidence response (e.g. scanning of unauthorized software, digital fingerprint and system log collection) to verify computer misuse and information assurance regulatory infractions. * Initiates protective or corrective measures if a Picatinny security incident is identified by working closely with Installation IAM, and various US Army Computer Emergency Response Team (ACERT) entities. * Performs Vulnerability audits of UnixLinux flavored and various Microsoft Windows based servers. * Performs vulnerability scans on all Picatinny network devices. * Analyzes network event logs and reports possible intrusion activities to Information Assurance Network manager (IANM) and Installation Assurance Manager (IAM). * Operates the centralized Host Based Intrusion Prevention System. * Assists the System Administrator team with configuration hardening of Critical Servers. * Audits for rogue Wireless Networks and report them to appropriate authorities. * Updates, tracks and resolves security deviations identified by Risk Management Framework (RMF) audit controls. * Conducts research on policies and procedures related to Information Assurance to ensure current practices are IA policy compliant. * Serves as Certification Agent on Information Systems by performing security audits on commercial and developmental application software, server and work station configurations and local area networks. * Prepares official US ARMY correspondence IAW AR 25-50 * Reviews all proposed changes to Picatinny software and hardware to determine if accredited security safeguards are affected. * Maintains and operates company vehicles and/or tools and equipment in compliance with company policy * Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills. * Others duties as assigned.ACCOUNTABLE FOR: * Timely, accurate, cost-effective performance of duties * Compliance with contract requirements and CII policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct. * Working closely and harmoniously with other employees. * Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations.QUALIFICATIONSMANDATORY * US Citizen * Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record * Strong operational and strategic understanding of security products and concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, IDSs, and other security devices * Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methods * Familiarity with emerging network level IT Security Compliance technologies. * Must be able to pass drug screen and background check * Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance * Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situationsPREFERRED * Programming skills in one of the following languages: Powershell or VBscript. * Experience with UNIX/LINUX operating system environments. * Basic database query skills (SQL) * Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Math. * Certification in Information Security/Assurances (for example, SANS, Security +, CISSP, CISA) * Prior experience supporting a military base or civilian installation
