Description:

The Human Resources Consultant I, Benefits administers claims made under the Club's Leave of Absence policy, Short Term Disability plan, Long Term Disability plan and Worker's Compensation.

Responsibilities include:

Respond to employees, managers and HR representatives questions on eligibility, federal and state legal requirements, plan documents and Club policy.

Ensure all documents are distributed and processed in a timely manner.

Interface with employees (claimants) as well as HR reps, Office of General Counsel, plan vendors, health plan providers and payroll.

Bill employee for benefits during off-payroll status.

Reconcile to ensure employee is making their benefit payments in a timely manner.

Will be responsible for statistical leave reporting to management.

Prepare reports in conformance with legislated requirements or organizational needs.

Develop interpretation of laws and regulations, determines appropriate courses of action and presents solutions to resolve claims.

Will handle more complex Leave cases requiring use of sound judgment, based on knowledge, skills and prior experience.
Qualifications

Knowledge of federal and state FMLA/CFRA, ADA (California and Federal) and workers' compensation required.

Knowledge of medical terminology desired.

Excellent member service (customer service) skills required.

Must be familiar with the interactive process.

Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple teams.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with an excellent phone demeanor. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and identify solutions.

Must have sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure and be results focused. Proficiency in Word and Excel a must.

Basic accounting skills helpful.

This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with strong detail orientation and superb follow up skills.

Successful completion of Auto Club pre-employment assessments, background and drug screenings.
