  • Support 2-4 patent attorneys or agents with their prosecution dockets
  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly docket meetings with agents and attorneys
  • Create, revise, and finalize US and PCT applications and other core patent prosecution documents (e.g. IDS s and SB08 s, missing parts, amendments and responses)
  • Draft non-routine prosecution documents such as requests for refunds and petitions
  • File documents with the Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO EFS)
  • File international and national stage patent application documents
  • Review, monitor, and clear out items from the docket reports including past-due deadlines
  • De-docket deadlines and upload correspondence to document management system (FTF) and docket system (FIP) in accordance with internal protocols
  • Draft routine correspondence and/or communicate with inventors and foreign associates
  • Identify and participate in special projects such as data clean up or improvement design (PPI)
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other legal departments at sites in California, Oregon, Texas, Massachusetts, Germany and the Netherlands

General duties: 90% patent prosecution; remainder on special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five plus years experience in patent prosecution and/or docketing
  • Bachelor s degree preferred
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Foundation IP and/or First to File, or commensurate experience with similar system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with USPTO PAIR and EFS, and other patent electronic filing systems such as ePCT
  • Proficiency in US, PCT, EPO and other country law as it relates to prosecution and deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, computer skills and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work in a team environment; collaborate and establish relationships with colleagues in remote offices on joint projects
  • Ability to operate independently with a high level of attention to detail
